roots

Kermit the Frog hatched in the swamp. He then followed his dreams to Hollywood and became a television and movie star.

Which swamp? Where? Does Kermit call Florida home? Lousiana? I assume that he's from the East just because he and Fozzie take such a long road trip, and it includes the Rocky Mountains.

I have a vague recollection of it being the Okefenokee Swamp, which would make it South Georgia.

Of course, my brain could have just made that up.

Tempting, but the NYT doesn't have enough of my personal information that I can search its archives. Anyone?

Pogo was from the Okefenokee; I can't speak for Kermit. I thought, in the Muppet Movie, that we found out that the swamp was in Florida, but I can't confirm that.

Jim Henson was from Mississippi, so that seems like a pretty good bet to me.
