thought for the day

The latest predictions are that the New Orleans public schools may not reopen for an entire year.

I did hear some "citizen" reports from those who got out and they are already registering their kids whereever they ended up. I cannot even imagine how I would deal with this.

Yes, the kids will definitely be most affected by this...and thankfully many times they are the most resiliant.

I think a lot of New Orleans residents/evacuees might turn their backs on orleans and never come back...they will relocate elsewhere and start life over again.

It's the death one of my favorite American cities.

If, God forbid, my hometown were leveled by a 9.5 earthquake tomorrow, and my honey and I were evacuated to wherever, I'd apply for jobs in the new city the next day and start looking for places to live. Why wait to come back to a place that you don't know when, how, or if it will be ready?

That's me. I understand the other side.
