query for the day

All right, wise and savvy and thoughtful readers of this blog:

Can chickens swim?

In the course of a long and roundabout conversation this morning, this question came up. It was meant as a joke, Naturally this means that I can't stop thinking about it.

A quick 'Google' search reveals that chickens cannot swim, but like most birds they can probably float, especially if dead.

I dislike chicken as far as a meal, so it makes no difference to me if they are dead or alive.

$200 and a dead chicken later, I can assure they most definitely can't swim.

I never thought about it...and now I will...for the rest of the day.

I guess their wings are too small to "paddle" their bodies.

I consulted a ref lib this morning (though not Joe) who telephoned a local chicken farmer. Said farmer was much amused to get such a call and informed ref lib that chickens cannot swim and do not float.

Now I know! :-)
