pop culture still lives

On Friday night, April 17, 2009, I heard Michael Jackson's "Thriller" all the way through for the first time.

I wouldn't have known that it was "Thriller" had I not been told - not some of his clearest diction...

If you're listening to Thriller, and worried about his diction, you're not listening correctly.

Now you're ready to hear Steve Martin's parody.

I think doing "Thriller" was the beginning of his dark decent into permanent weirdness. Too bad, I really liked his music at one time. Wouldn't pay one nickel for anything he's done since then.

I NEVER understand song lyrics. I miss how they printed lyrics inside the record jacket, like they did for Thriller.

Rob: It's much more fun NOT to know the lyrics. For example, do you really want to know what John Fogerty is saying in the Creedence Clearwater Revival songs? I've heard several people say they believed "Bad Moon Rising" contained this line: "There's a bathroom on the right."

Anonymous,
Two of my all-time favorite misquotes lyrics:

“In a glob of Velveeta, honey." (Real lyric: "In-A-Gadda Da Vida," a.k.a., "In the garden of Eden," Iron Butterfly.)

“The girl with colitis goes by." (Real lyric: "The girl with kaleidoscope eyes," Beatles)
